bidding problem, 1H-1S, 4H-?

Hi,

I am not going to force to slam, but passing it out, seems also wrong.

So I would make a slam try.

This means 4NT is out, it is either 4S (hopefully a cue - 4H should set the suit,

even, if 4S the round before was not possible) or 5H.

4S has the adv., that p can ask for KCs, so if you have the choice, 4S is better,

but 5H should at least deny the minor suit Aces, so p will assume, that you have

the Ace of spades.

With kind regards

Marlowe

do you have a way to show a "good" 4M preempt in your system? If you do then maybe you should consider a move at these colours. Afterall, a normal preempt is quite good sencond vul vs not, a good pre-empt should be better and 1h-4h better still.

If you do not have a way to show a good 4M bid, then I would pass. Best you can hope for is AK 8th with an ace and maybe a q, either way it is pretty unlikely that slam is better than a finesse, though may need a good lead to beat it if he has the k of spades. I guess its just possible that partner has 1d ks ak 8th and you can guess to bid 6nt, but seems tough to find out.
