Gerben42
No I pass, otherwise I shouldn't have bid 4♠...
bd71
No I pass, otherwise I shouldn't have bid 4♠... Not sure I understand...meaning you would have jumped to 5♠ right away or not at all? I don't get that; seems like you would be throwing away points in those non-rare situations where they wouldn't push to 5♦ and our limit is 4. jillybean
Pass, I'm not certain we can make 5♠ and partner is saying we should set 5♦
phil_20686
You should pass. Your hand is not at all off centre for what partner will expect for a 4!s bid. This is not a FP situation so partner has made a penatly double opposite a hand that could be substantially weaker in defence. It would be normal to bid 4!s on a hand like KJxxx xxx - QJxxx, with an ace you are not at all uncomfortable defending 5!d x. If your partner thinks you should have had more values/pulled this, then he might like to reflect that you have denied probably as many as 10 HCP by failing to bid either 3d or 2N earlier. You have shown a high odr raise to 4!s, and that is what you have.
