LHO leads 8♠. What holdings do you visualize for opps that will allow you to make this hand? Based on that, what is your line of play? ahydra
Playing on spades looks like the only viable option here. I duck the opening lead in dummy hoping that North doesn't have the ♠10. Draw trumps, run the ♠9 and that should establish either the Jack or the 7. FWIW the bidding looks fine :) ahydra
mtvesuvius
Nice hand... Seems like the ♠8 is stiff. Based on this assumption, there is only one hope to make, which is when S has both the ♥AK and ♦KQ. I win the lead in hand, and play a club to dummy, and a club to hand. Now comes a low diamond from hand, hooking if necessary, or otherwise driving out the other ♦ honour. Once I clear the diamond suit (pitching a spade from hand on the eventual winner), I'll lead the ♥Q from dummy pitching a spade. South will hopefully be endplayed now, and have to lead another heart establishing my heart in dummy for a pitch, or concede a ruff-sluff.
bftboy
Certainly possible that S has led ♠ 8 from something like K108, AKxxxx, Kxx, x, but it's not likely. Even knowing from the bidding that it will be ruffed, leading a top ♥ is much more likely. If you haven't already looked at spoiler, try again. ;)
