jtfanclub
I was forced to cancel a tournament mid-game today (Saturday). I was literally being inundated with people needing replacement and complaints about slow play. There was probably nothing that could be done about this tournament. When I've subbed over 30 people, called for subs twice (and gotten a dozen each time, thank you- it just still wasn't enough), and then my screen is completely filled with requests for subs or slow play, there's no amount of respect or politeness that's going to allow the tourney to continue. Nonetheless, if I may make some comments... 1. My record that tourney was SIX calls to the director in five minutes at one table, all for a player who was still connected but playing slowly. What exactly are you hoping to accompish by this? 2. When you're in a non-speed tourney (which was the case), if your opponent wants to wait for his partner to come back, that is his right. Send the director a message (Do NOT call the director) saying "Waiting for player at table X" or "Slow play at table X". Don't expect a response- you're just logging this so if you don't get to some boards you can argue for an A+. 3. If a player is red, his partner can replace him himself. If the partner doesn't know this or how to do this, you can help him. Calling me solves nothing. 4. If you sign up for a tourney, you are committing to play in that tourney. If there is anything I can stand less than "well, my partner can't stay on, so I'm going to quit too" I'll let you know. That's just plain rude. This was not a Survivor tourney, so every time this happened it was two more subs that I had to get. That was the straw that broke the camel's back. That's all. I'm not mad at anybody in particular, and I think it was hopeless- with so many people losing connection at the exact same time, I'd say a major server in the U.S. crashed. Those things happen. Hopefully, thing will be better next time.
jtfanclub
And let me add two... 5. If you call the director, and the director shows up and asks what the problem is, somebody say something. We're not psychic. Cripes. 6. And for God's sake, if your connection is going in and out, you crash, you're subbed, you come back, your partner insists on your being subbed back in, you crash again, you'd be subbed again except that's the point that I end up cancelling the tourney, the solution is NOT to join the next tournament and wink in and out until you get subbed there too! Come on, there's other human beings playing the game- be fair to them.
spwdo
Hi Mathew, It happens to the most tds sooner or later, all the things u point out are long time probs. We have been asking a lot to disable mutiple calls from one player-table.Will come one day im sure. Concerning your record, you aint see nothing yet LOL and unfortunaly correct, i had a player and his partner called me 17 times in less then a minute, prob is when they keep on calling u cant sub them out cause everything stops when a call comes in :((another hint for software). The call director button shoud be hidden , every day another place so ppl woud have to find it, by that time most problems are over and u missed a zilion calls, a message to the table "director is informed"when the first calls maybe woud solve some probs. You must be a new td given the fact you are not spychic and smell what is the problem at a table when noone informs you :D Yes, the sub yourself feauture works perfect, some players prefer to let td chose a sub afterwitch they can blaim the td for profiding a bad sub :o Blaim it on the fact that we are so deeply loved over this place and that ppl really appreciate our compagny at a table... Good luck in future events Marc
