MrAce
I think you would find many weak 2's would rate at 12-13 on the K & R. What does that tell you ?
Phil
What does that tell you ? That there's more to an opening bid than having a K & R of 12+?

Phil
You only have 5 hearts you know... Yeah I do. But I like the concentration of values which is a pre-requisite for a five card weak 2, I don't think the black Jacks are worth much and AKQxx looks like 6 to me. I say a lot of things for shock value on here, and I'm not sure what I would do in a real game TBH. It probably depends on who my opps are and my partner and the level of the game. Not the first time I've been accused of smoking crack at the table. :P
whereagles
You only have 5 hearts you know... huh... what's up with this? Are you the regional deputy-inquisitor or something? :P I do what I wish  Come on, you can do better than that, say "- The hand has two jacks, which can be of some defensive use.- The AKQ can easily make 2 tricks on defense, perhaps even 3. such a defensive hand might as well open 1♥ and portray a more adequate description of itself." ehehehehhe

cherdano
I don't think "shock value" adds any kind of value to the discussion on BBF. There is enough noise already.
JLOGIC
AKQxx looks like 6 to me. Yeah but it's not. KQJxxx is much better than AKQxx because: -More trick taking potential-Less defense (good in all cases)-Since pard is, you know, going to assume we have six, it's better that we do so that his bidding is more accurate. On top of that, not everyone would even open KQJxxx and 2 jacks 2H. We could easily have AKxxxx, AKJxxx, or KQTxxx and a king, all of which have more trick taking potential than our actual hand. Phil
I don't think "shock value" adds any kind of value to the discussion on BBF. There is enough noise already. Not in and of itself. But if it spurs discussion (like here), then its definitely beneficial, especially if a dissenting post is in the general form of: "I'm tempted to bid 2♥""any good players would bid 2♥, but its not my style""1♥, but I understand the arguments for 2♥". The forums would be a very and dull boring place if everyone with a bridge brain did the same thing all of the time and alternate views were not considered.
