mtvesuvius
1. No, I would have bid 2♣ on the way to some number of spades.2. No way... I bid 2♠ now if I have to pass the first time...
Fluffy
I won't sit for this double at the 1 level, what is the range for 1NT now?, got no clue so would bid spades to avoid confusion.
jillybean
a Nob I wouldn't be in this position but if you put me in as a sub, I bid ♠
Hanoi5
I'd bid what I would have bid earlier instead of pass: 2♠.
l milne
First pass seems pretty obvious, not sitting for this one though.
Phil
I wouldn't pass the first time, but I probably don't pass enough in this situations. It seems when I do I lose a game against down 1 or they make 1♣ when RHO actually has clubs. No way I will sit; I'd bid a number of spades now. MrAce
Ok guys, sorry all, it is my bad to put it late but i will add another question then, which i think is important and related to others. 3-If you wouldn't pass the first time (1♣ dbled) what would be your choice of bid ? dake50
1.D4 to DA, 2.Dr, 3.H5 to HQ over HK, 4.Dr, 5.H6 to HA, 6.Dr, 7.SA, 9.wait for CAQ -- that's a bonanza in 1C-X.Always expect spades response to TO/X otherwise bid your suit. Partner is prepared for 1S even 2S competing.
rhm
Ok guys, sorry all, it is my bad to put it late but i will add another question then, which i think is important and related to others. 3-If you wouldn't pass the first time (1♣ dbled) what would be your choice of bid ? I think the first pass is okay, but I would now simply bid 1♠. 1♠ now shows values. With a weak hand and ♠s you would not have tried to play 1♣ doubled. Bidding 2♠ now should show a better hand, more than a minimum opening bid, which could not bid immediately because of long ♣. Also the hands seem not to fit too well. If I would not sit for 1♣ doubled (why?), I would have bid 2♠. This hand is a minimum invite opposite a reopening double, which can be at least a king weaker than in second position. I don't think your side is going to get rich defending 1D doubled when the opponents have an eight card diamond fit when our side has an eight card spade fit. I would bid 2S now which would pretty much tell partner my whole story. Eric Leong
MrAce
That was an interesting board i kibbed. 1♣ doubled going down 3 for + 800 1♦ doubled down 2 for +500 We can make 3 NT, bu we better bid it since we refused 500 or 800, however its not easy to bid, 13 vs 10 hcp and longest suit is opened by opponents. Pd held; TxxKQxxAKJ7Tx This EW sat on both 1♣ and then 1♦ double. West a very good player (Sergey Kustarov) started with ♦A and switched to ♣ T, took 500. Interesting though, North player opened 1♣ with 3♣ and 4♦ and i dunno why. They found their 4-4 ♦ fit though. South had to guess to run to 1♦ from; QxxxxxxxxxJxx
the hog
I'd bid what I would have bid earlier instead of pass: 2♠. Agree with the above; the first pass is silly.
