Lead

WTF. That is all. After I regain my composure I'd lead a heart, I expect partner not to be doubling on an auction like this for an extra 100 or 300... Therefore I'd expect partner to either have trumps, hearts, or a heart void. I think that 4 rules out a X on power or a X asking for a non- lead (and probably a lead). I'll trust partner for once lol

I think w/o double, in this auction, or leads are the expected leads. After double they ain't an option for me. Only thing that comes to my mind, if pd bid 4 with AK tide, and opener with xxx hoped his pd was short in , but then again, pd should have just passed and expect us to find the lead. Same goes for .

If we are playing lightner double, i don't see why i should overrule our agreement on this hand.

A H void? So you think west has 8 or 9 hearts? rofl!

However, I do think the auction now calls for a Heart lead, as I was going to lead a spade.

Well I can't explain partner's double, if RHO has a ton of diamonds, I don't suppose it's against the law for them to be 1390, and their partner being 2902 LOL

I lead a heart because it looks right, and it's what partner asked for. Obviously I seriously doubt that partner has a heart void, but stranger things have happened.

Can anyone come up with a sensible construction where a heart lead matters?

Easily, RHO has a club void and 2 hearts, and the heart is going away on the club. Or RHO has a real freak like 4180 and partner has the red aces or something. A little farfetched, but 6D is obviously a really strange bid when they had a forcing 4D available if they wanted to be scientific.

Would partner double with the AQ or AK of hearts? It's pretty risky, a jump to slam randomly often signifies a void in partners suit, and they will XX with a heart void, but it is also extremely risky not to double if a heart lead can beat slam and partner is not going to find it. Perhaps partners clubs are pretty long and he feels that RHO having a club void is likely. I definitely think partner would double with the red aces.

Would partner double with the AK of spades, hoping we can work it out? I don't think so, there is a strong likelihood we lead a spade on this auction anyways, and a strong likelihood we lead a heart if he doubles. He also could have bid 3S over 3H if he had the AK of spades and wanted that lead so badly (or he might not have, depends on his tendencies).

A lot is unsure, but I think a heart is the right lead.

Their bidding says they dont have 11 cards , pd says they do. (There are also cases where we can defeat only on lead when they don't have 11 and JLOGIC explained very good)

I think you are masochist Phil :D Instead of appreciating the fact that you are rescued from making a blind guess, you started to think dangerous things. (Joking m8, u know i like you and your bridge very much) :)

LOL; starting to appreciate your presence around here and its nice to get some posters again that can form rational thoughts instead of spewing nonsense.

I am a serious bridge masochist, which is why I send time on here! FTR I never said I wouldn't lead a heart, but I wanted to get inside the heads of people that were leading a heart instead of hearing crap like "uh, he doesn't want a club lead, so I'll lead a heart".

I think Justin's constructions make a lot of sense, but the chances of the opponents having 11 hearts are, uh, nil? Especially when someone can figure this out and pull to 6 :) I also think partner might have stuck in a lead director with 3 if that was the key to beating the hand.
