mgoetze
1♣-(1♦)-p-1NT-2♣: to play or Stayman?1♣-(1♦)-p-1NT-2♦: Takeout or transfer? Or to play? Obviously it makes sense to have an agreement, but if you don't have one, what would you assume? (Secondary question: which agreement do you think is better?) Finch
I can't work out what your auctions are. Are you asking about1C (1D) P P1NT P 2C? If so, I would always assume this is natural and weak, and wouldn't occur to me that it wasn't. after1C (1D) P P1NT (P) 2D I would take this as a cue-bid (although this is a more likely auction after a 1S overcall)

whereagles
I have a rule for continuations over 1NT rebids by opener: - If responder passes 1st round: all natural- If responder bids 1st round: system on, with the obvious modifications Example: 1♦ 1♥ 1♠ pass1NT pass 2♣ = checkback 1♥ 1♠ pass pass1NT pass 2♦ = natural, to play 1♥ 1♠ pass pass1NT pass 2♠ = inconsistent with pass, thus probably weakish 55 minors

(Secondary question: which agreement do you think is better?) 2♣ by 1♣ opener: to play: probably a good six card, 12-16 H2♦ by 1♣ opener:: take-out: good hand (14+), short in ♦ and both majors. What else George ? 1
