Partner is agressive and 6 carder is possible. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

At these colors playing IMPS my best partner (RIP) said I needed a 2♣ opener to raise this call so either the requirements for 2 ♣ have dropped or your partner has a lot more than you expected :) Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
mikestar13 Posted December 12, 2010 Report Share Posted December 12, 2010 I expect that 4♥ gets reached only when it is opened. Partner is much too strong at these colors. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
MrAce Posted December 12, 2010 Report Share Posted December 12, 2010 I don't think 3♥ bid is too strong with a lousy suit and no singleton. You may bid or pass as North hand, both bids are reasonable for me. The outcome of your decision will not depend on only what partner has most of the time. Whether you pass or bid 4♥ you won't even know if you are in right or wrong contract untill the 3rd 4th or 5th trick in the play. Second hand i am bidding game though, regardless. dake50 Posted December 12, 2010 Report Share Posted December 12, 2010 I think
P
1NT,
2D (->H)
2H,
4H. Gets to 4H always. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Fluffy Posted December 12, 2010 Report Share Posted December 12, 2010 partner opened in second position, I expect 3NT to be cold after a non heart lead and that's my bid Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
gnasher Posted December 12, 2010 Report Share Posted December 12, 2010 Fluffy, do your partners really not open 3♥ in second seat at favourable on x KJ10xxxx xxx xx? Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
gnasher Posted December 12, 2010 Report Share Posted December 12, 2010 I hate the 3♥ opening on Ax K10xxxxx J10 xx. The suit is mediocre, it has a side ace, it's 7222, and it's in second seat. I've lost count of how many flaws that is, but it's definitely too many. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Pass may be a four letter word, but when one passes and then, if the opportunity arises, show a long heart suit and some values, partner may be far better positioned than after a misdescriptive preempt. Look at how trivial this hand becomes after N opens a strong 1N Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Game is far less wonderful if opener doesn't have the spade ace which you don't promise and partner doesn't expect.I really don't like preempting with a shabby suit and a side ace.If you go for a number the opponents will probably not be able to make a slam.
