Trick 2 :2,7,A,3[/hv]

A hand I played at the club the other night. I got a heart lead and played a spade to the ace, both opponents following. I drew trumps, ran club 9 to the Q and without really getting a count of the hands, took another club finesse. Made 12 with clubs KTxxx on side.

There seems to be a lot of options but I cant figure out the best plan. How would you play?

I would play the same way. 3-3s is less than 36% after the preempt. The lack of K lead makes the T hook more appealing, LHO might lead it with KQ. Running the 9 is the % play anyway I think and these additional clues make it even better. The only thing I would do differently is to run the 7, making it more likely for LHO to cover if he has KQ.

You should actually play 7 instead of the 9, because LHO covering the 9 with the King gives you some trouble in a perfect defence world (I never found this kind of defence yet).

rough percentages can't be applied given that RHO has preempted, so the line decision must be intuitivelly picked.

A club losing to the 10 has still some additional recoveries, specially if opponents fail to play a diamond backon the form of minor suit squeeze, of maybe KQ third dropping.
