gwnn
1N is enough for me.
Phil
I think this is a comfortable 2N call with these healthy heart stoppers. I don't love my black suit stops, but I'm right-siding with ♠Qx. I also have a diamond suit which contributes to a source of tricks.
mtvesuvius
I'd bid 2N, my heart cards are well positioned, and despite not having the greatest 11, I think that bidding 1N is too much of an understatement if playing a 15-17 NT. If playing a 14-16 NT, I'd bid 1N.
Cascade
I will raise diamonds - whatever is a limit raise in your system. I can show a heart stopper later if partner wants to know. Maybe at MPs 2NT has more going for it (than at IMPs) but I still feel an obligation to tell partner we have a fit.

movingon
I like 2nt. That says it all in one shot, I think. Partner can pass or bid on.
Siegmund
A slightly shaky 2NT limit avoids any potential wrongsiding accidents that might happen after a limit raise (and for me that's 2D inverted on in comp after doubles and suit overcalls but I know that's a minority view on here.) I have no great quarrel with downgrading to 1NT if your partnership opens light frequently.
the hog
2NT for me.

the hog
it is MP and doesn't hurt to be conservative in these positions so 1NT is fineSo playing 1Nt and making 9 tricks is a good MP score?
han
2NT. If you play 2NT as natural and invitational then I don't understand 1NT. Are there better invitations than this? Raising diamonds seems really off.
mr1303
Yeah, 2NT is fairly automatic. If I had a less solid heart stop with 4 diamonds, I might show the limit raise (e.g. Kxx in hearts), but this hand is all about no trumps. Fluffy
I'd bid 2NT if avaible, if it isn't I am not sure if double then 2NT or 2♥ is better.
mikeh
I will raise diamonds - whatever is a limit raise in your system. I can show a heart stopper later if partner wants to know. Maybe at MPs 2NT has more going for it (than at IMPs) but I still feel an obligation to tell partner we have a fit. I don't see the upside to this, and the downside is clear. If we can make (and should be in) 5♦ (or more) then surely she will do something over 2N other than bid 3N? But there will be hands on which over 2♥ she has little choice but to bid 3♦ and now here are we? Hoping to make 130 to beat the 120s? or overbidding to 3N? This soft flat hand doesn't look like 10 tricks in diamonds on hands on which she'd pass 2N. Move one of the small diamonds into spades, and this would be a wtp? 2N. The 4th diamond, and the shorter spades, don't add up to a reason to expect diamonds to play 2 tricks better than notrump when we are aiming for a partial. And 2N is the quickest route to what rates to be the best game, or the best partial, and doesn't rule out bigger and better things when partner has an unusual hand.
