helene_t
Pass. Partner signs off. Btw why is it 19-21? What am I supposed to do with 18? Would a 1NT opening be 16-18?
paulg
I would consider passing and 2♥, but I would bid 2NT. Depends a little on the strength of, or perhaps my faith in, my partner. Would he (ab)use this sequence to ask if I have a good heart stop?
Cyberyeti
Presuming you play transfers over a 1N overcall, what do you play a transfer to opener's suit as after partner has overcalled 1N ? Many pairs will have an agreement for this and this sequence will be the same. Do you have stayman and a transfer to ♦ available over 1N ? jeremy69
I would not pass. I would bid 2♥ and see what happened from there.
gordontd
I would not pass. I would bid 2♥ and see what happened from there....and if your partner then rebid 3♦?
RMB1
I would probably bid 3NT (after 2♦) because I have more than 19-21 and more than a ♥ stop. (I would assume I am playing "system on" here.) After 2♥-3♦-, I would still probably bid 3NT. Edited December 9, 2010 by RMB1
mgoetze
2♦ in principle is a transfer, but because of the overcall you think it must be natural No I don't, I think it must be takeout of hearts. So I bid 3♣.
TimG
I bid 2♥ and hope to know what is going on when next it is my turn to call. I do not rule out the possibility of not getting another turn to call, the 1♥ overcall may have been a psyche. But, if 2♦ is in principle a transfer, I complete the transfer. I take "in principle a transfer" to mean that there are no partnership agreements about the auction (1♥)-1N-(P)-2♦ (or similar) which would suggest another principle to be in play. I do not try to do something clever to make up for my apparent underbid of 1N, though I will, of course, accept all invitations that partner might make.
