mikeh
I think that most readers here are more comfortable with 'Q' for 'D" (assuming that I'm even right in thinking that the 'D' stands for the Queen). I only mention this since English is the preferred language for the forum, due to the mono-linguistic abilities of people like me. As it is: I rebid 3♦ on the first one, and 3N on the 2nd, absent special agreements. Perfect? No.
gnasher
I'd want better hearts for 1♥1-♠-3NT, so I'd bid 3♣ on the second one.
TWO4BRIDGE
After 1H - 1S,Opener needs to make a SJS rebid to show a GF hand with 18,19+ and ostensibly a 2nd suit. Mike and Andy chose 3D and 3C jumps respectively where they had 3 cards in the 2nd suit. I haven't really extensively tested the system yet, but I would use 3C! in both cases and "may be artificial".Next, I would have a relay option for Responder: 1H - 1S3C! - 3D! = next step, relay to 3H! If Opener accepts the relay ( to 3H! ), he has at least 4 cards Cl.If he rejects the relay by skipping a step to 3S!, he denies a Cl suit and shows the long ( 6+ card ) Ht hand instead. gordontd
Although it doesn't answer your question, the same sort of problem that arises with these hands when responder bids 1NT can be solved by playing transfer rebids.

I'd be quite interested in seeing as this works as jump shift auctions are always messy :(

I'd be quite interested in seeing as this works as jump shift auctions are always messy :( I too, would be interested in the "transfer bids" link ( from gordontd ) . And again, here is the priceless comment, concerning these types of auctions, by Justin ( J Lall, aka Phantomsac, J-Logic ) : "imo by far in bridge the least understood concept is how to bid over a jump-shift." straube
Strong club probably prevents this problem. A strong artificial 2C rebid by opener may also obviate. I like 1M-1L, 2N to be an artificial gf. The bottom line is that if opener doesn't have an artificial bid reserved to show extras, he'll have to use natural forcing bids even when he doesn't have the promised holding. the hog
You will find a number of people use a gadget to solve these problems. Some players use Gazilli, others use a 2NT rebid as an artificial force showing various hand types, (sometimes even a strong hand with 4 card support). If your system is crippled by failing to have one of these bids in your arsenal, then you are forced to lie and make a jump into a 3 card suit. MrAce
3♦ and 3♣. If u wanna play something else than standart, best is Gazilli convention of course. It is made specifically for those hands. Gazilli works on both 1♥-1♠/1NT and 1♠--1NT. I am sure it has been posted a lot of times in BBO forums, i didn't check but here is the simple version of it http://www.freewebs.com/bobbybridge/conventions/Gazzilli%20Convention.htm

I hate artificial jump shifts, love Gazilli, but with a scratch partner would bid the hated 3m.
han
Raise your hand if you like Gazilli.
