What Shoud 3D Mean?

Recommended Posts

tough questions :)

Assuming you play 2 as 100% 3+ cards.

I use the 3 level to pattern out, this means that 3 is a diamond shortness. If he has 6412 it could be just 2 cards, and even low doubleton is possible.

3 standard meaning at this point is A. Wich helps the bidding in case south has diamond void.

Playing 2/1 with no interference, our auction went:

1S 2C

2H 2S

3C 3D

3S 4S

1. Can opener bid 3C with a fitting honor, or should it be real club support?

2. What is 3D?

Thanks.

For me 2s is a slam try not HX.

2/1 has its problems but one big advantage is too make slam trys at a low level. If 2s is not a slam try for you ok...

so we are cuebidding now after 2s.

Note if 2s is not a slam try, that really changes the follow ups.

In my experience standard is that 2S promises 3-card support but does not promise extra values. 3C is patterning out, I would expect a 3-card suit and shortness. You might bid it with AQxxxx KJxx x Qx as well but the diamond shortness is an important inference, you cannot bid it with AQxxx KJxx xx Qx. After 3C we cuebid. 3D promises the ace as opener has shown diamond shortness.
