adapted wilkosz

Hi!

I've thought on adapting Wilkosz like this:

2 is any 5-5 (except both minors) + 8-12 (13) points.

This could be both preemptive and constructive

I know Wilkosz was banned because it was brown sticker. As i have read from the wbf regulations:

"The following conventions or treatments are categorised as 'Brown Sticker':

a) Any opening bid of two clubs through three spades that:

... i) could be weak (may by agreement be made with values below average strength) and

... ii) does not promise at least four cards in a known suit."

Upgrading Wilkosz to 8-12 points will pull it out of the brown sticker zone because any hand opening this convention will have at least the rule of 18 (which make it a valid opening as far as i know).

Is this assumption correct? Would this convention be declared valid? Who would have to declare if this convention is valid?

Thanks!

Isn't 'average strength' described in the regulations as 10hcp? Then your Wilkosz needs 10+hcp to be allowed...

Average strength hand means Axxx Kxx Qxx Jxx, I'd say almost all 5521 8 counts are better than that. However this isn't all there is, because:

(Explanation: Where all the weak meanings show at least four cards in one known suit, and the strong meanings show a hand with a king or more above average strength, it is not a Brown Sticker Convention.)

Even though I wouldn't consider those hands weak, they aren't strong but end up pretty much average.

It doesn't have to be strong. You can play mini-roman, for example, which isn't strong and doesn't have an anchor suit. As long as it promises "average strength" you are fine.

So the question is what "average strength" means. I am afraid it means 10 HCPs but I could be wrong.
