skorchev
When kibitz at table and see the score there write We and They. Much better is NS and EW or the name of the players ... Stefan
Gerben47
I agree. If you are not playing there is no Us or Them. I am quite sure I posted this before...

bearmum
When kibitz at table and see the score there write We and They. Much better is NS and EW or the name of the players ... Stefan once again THIS goes back to the fact that I TRULY believe that there should be NO reason WHY the directions are NOT shown in BBO . there seems PLENTY of room on the diagram showing vul and dealer - how about it UDAY??? fred
Here is the reason for no directions: - People like to see their owns hands appear at the bottom of the screen- People who have studied bridge (or geography) are used to seeing"South" at the bottom- A significant % of these people feel "disoriented" if "South" does notappear at the bottom of the screen (I am not just making this up) Furthermore: - I still have yet to hear a single good reason why players should carewhat direction they are sitting in.- Adding unnecessary interface elements clutters up a screen thatis already very full.- I have been unable to come up with a way to display the directionsymbols in a way that fits nicely with the existing interface andlooks aesthetically pleasing (to me that is). If you are kibitizing then "We" refers to whoever is at the bottomof your screen. Is that really so difficult? daswallow
I also used to get confused over who we/they actually are until someone wins the next trick. I didn't realise that North/South were always "We" when kibitzing. Now I do, hopefully no more confusion! Thanks Fred.
Free
OK Fred, I'll give you ONE good reason: If you're following a lesson, the bidding shows 4 names which are EXACTLY the same in some cases. Many people (me included) get confused during these bidding sequences, don't find immediatly who started the bidding,... I know you can track it back because the current bidder has another color, but a simple direction-showing gadget would make it a lot easier. fred
Not bad Free, but teaching tables in which a given player occupiesmore than one seat is a pretty obscure case. The player who appears to be in the "West" position on the screenalways appears at the left of the bidding diagram. Fred
Free
Ok, that I didn't know :)
Deanrover
Perhaps "We" and "they" could be color-coded a la teams matches to clear up any confusion?
hallway
Most of the BIL teachers using Play of Hands / Discussion format for their sessions 'sit' at all four places when demonstrating the bidding and play. Members can follow this quite simply by:- Making South at the bottom of the screen By paying attention ;) The Dealer ID is always highlighted (I suggest to members that they select a bright colour for the highlight ) so no problem knowing where the bidding starts and from then on which position is to bid/play. or the teachers can chose to set a North, South, East or West ID at one position (Cascade does this using N o r t h) where there is a will there is a way  If you want to do a quick check when kibbing a group of four players you can always click on the right hand black Table button - the list is headed North South East and West . seek and ye shall find ;)
