IMPs, opponents are GIBs.

Would your answer change if partner was a passed hand?

We know partner is short in (most of the time). We need either a very good fit or pd with 9+ hcp to make a Nun vulnerable game. And our options are

-pass

-3

-3

-Dbl

-3NT

To me, Dbl and 3 nt are out of question. 3 and 3 bids are fancy and risky bids, since it is not our partner only who is short in suit :).

It is an easy pass for me, if partner doubles, i will pass. I dont care if we have 4-4 fit, whatever we make we will take more by dbling 3 if partner has a hand for dbl. If partner bids 3 or 3 we are in good shape and shd not think of stopping b4 game. If pd bids 3 i will bid 3 nt.

EDIT : It may not be a good idea to pass though, if your pd was also GIB.

Pass and hope dear partner has enough to dble and collect 200-800 and if really blessed 1100 yummy! Bidding gains only when partner hold either 4+S and a fitting 6 or so hcp and is unable to act missing your game. Big deal, a possible 420 and you collect 200 defending undbled = loss of 6, maybe. So I think bidding at these colors in imps is not worth the money. Passing however could pay off big time.

I had to look at this hand with the colors reversed and opted for bidding 3S and sure hope partner is understanding  You could easily have good play for 4S on a 4-3 fit under the same sort of conditions as above.
