[hv=pc=n&s=saj6hak96dcaj7542&d=e&v=e&b=6&a=2s]133|200|Here's a hand I had (and got horribly wrong for other reasons), in tonight's Cayne match... Felt like it was a pretty miserable bidding problem, but perhaps it's wtp... Your call over 2? RHO is Allan Falk, LHO is Steve Beatty.[/hv]

Double, with the hopes of a heart game. If partner bids 3D I will bid 3NT, if partner lebs and plans to sign off in diamonds I will remove it to 4C. Maybe we should bid 4C over a positive 3D response in search for a club slam but I fear that 9 tricks could play better than contracting for 11 tricks given our club suit isn't so good.

Although my 2nd choice is 3C, I think my hand is strong enough that I am too afraid 3C will get passed out when 4H is cold. I'm glad that my good hand is full of A/K's because I can then remove partner's diamond bids to clubs (as opposed to say the same hand but weaker). Yes there's a chance (but a one that I think is pretty rare) that partner might just bid 5D but there are just lots of other times where finding the heart fit is crucial (if partner can't act over our direct 3C) and if we don't have a heart fit we can still reside back to clubs.
