This is EAST, not West.

IMPs, short matches

1. What is your call over 2?

2.

If you pass - LHO passes and partner doubles. Now what?

3.

If you pass, and partner doubles, you choose 3 (constructive) and partner bids 3N. Sit or pull?

Thanks

You have the hand as West with N deaing, so my technically correct answer is that I make no call because it isn't my turn yet.

Assuming I am over the 2 opener, I pass (reluctantly but without doubt)

Looking at the spoilers, I bid a constructive 3 over a reopening double, feeling I have a lot in reserve, but not liking the xx in hearts and LHO's failure to raise, both suggesting that partner has heart length.

If he bids 3N over my constructive 3[diamonds), I think I have to try for something more.

Imagine Axx AJx Kxx AJxx, which is a good hand for him, and grand is on a hook through the preemptor's partner, so rates to be 60% or so, and passing means we're in 3N.

I think I bid 4, natural and forcing. If he bids 4or 4 I'll bid a natural 4N, and if he bids 4, I'll drive to 6.

I'd pass over 2, just because I don't want to hear 3 over my 3 overcall... Then 4 over 4 etc.

I'd bid 3 as well over the Reopening Double, although I admit I was tempted by a 4N call now, lol

Over 3N I bid 4, unfortunately we've wrongsided both minors potentially, but I think this is worth an investigation of slam, at the very least.

CHO - (not a regular) held this.

1. He passed over 2 which is reasonable, although I'd overcall.

2. He bid 3 over the double, although I think this he's overweight for this call too. What about 4?

3. He passed 3N which I consider rather unreasonable. I scored up 720 - I held QT8x AK xxxx AKJ. If he pulls to 4, I think we have a good shot at getting to 6.

If he overcalls initially, getting to 6 seems pretty easy.

I'd pass 2H hoping to show minors on the next round. Over partner's double, 3D feels weird with this nice 6-5 so I'm with Fluffy in bidding 4NT. Don't think I'd reach 6 after that too, but then again I would balance with 2NT with partner's hand.

I can't believe people are bidding only 3 over the double. We have a 4-loser hand and partner has a fit and some values for us. I would bid 3 with a 3253 8-hcp hand, and wouldn't think of it as a dead minimum!

I would bid 3 over 2, and 4N over the double (although I wouldn't mind 4).

IMO

  1. _P = 10, 3 = 4.
  2. 3 = 10, 4N = 9, 3 = 8, 4 = 7.
  3. 4 = 10, 5 = 6.
