I also added my rating and how I rate the difficulty (Kelsey's book that I rate 5 on difficulty are probably too difficult and that is why rating is lower)

I will ask bridge book(s) as new year present.

I prefer bridge books that improve my play (f.i. the squeeze book; or the books or Reese/Trézel), and that are not too easy (difficulty 4).

'Play these hands with me' (Reese) or his other "over-the-shoulder" style books, allowing you to follow declarer's thoughts through the course of a hand. Pottage has written a book on defence in the same style (called, I think, 'Defend these hands with me') which is also good.

 

'The needle match' (Kelsey) who again wrote one or two other similar books which are equally good, giving 64 tough problems set in a match context with results from the other table to score up with.

Bidding, declarer play and defence. It's a nice logical read albeit I'm still quite sceptical about the "double or sac" theory.

I recently read part 1 of Krzystof Martens' "Dynamic Declarer Play" and found it quite good. I'd say it's a similar difficulty level to most of Kelsey's books, but a somewhat different style.

you mention "Kantar for the Defense, vol 2", you should also get Vol 1, along with the 2-3 books he has on declarer play as well.

"The Expert Game" and "Master Play" (by Reese) are the same book. It was published originally in England with the former title, later in America with the latter title.

Rating: 3/5 (Maybe they both earn a 4)
