How can GIB pass my 2♦ bid with 13 HCP? I'm in 2♦+1 while 3NT+1 is cold as the cards lie. The redouble should promise at least one more bid by North. uday
This was an interesting one. The robot knows that 3N is the official bid, albeit less desirable because of the lack of a heart stopper. It looked ahead to see what would happen if it bid 3N, or 2S, or 3D. It saw, that in the samples it generated, 3N was less effective a bid at MP than Pass, so it overrode the 3N call and passed. I'm mildly surprised at the outcome. But the hands it generated are consistent with the decision. I'm going to take another look in a while. Perhaps it shouldn't be allowed to override that 3N, or perhaps 2D should be forcing. I wonder what the opposing GIBs would have done?
