Question 2: Suppose you pass, and it goes around to partner who doubles...what now? Question 3: Suppose you bid 4♣ over partner's X, and he bids 5♣...any further action? I don't mind the initial pass, but 4C is a Caspar Milquetoast bid. Bid 4NT.
Fluffy
I never met Caspar but I think 4♣ is not the bid. At first glance I though 4NT wtp, but upon closer look, it is 5♣ WTP, clubs are gonna play better most of the time.
P_Marlowe
Hi, #1 Pass, if 4H comes back to you, you have a nice 4NT bid to show your hand, without overstating the HCP strength of your hand#2 Playing Lebensohl, you can try 2NT, this will allow you to find out more about partners hand, a 3C response by partner, you can raise to 4C. Not playing Lebensohl, I guess I would bid 5C, but since the X occurred in the pass out seat 4C is ok as well#3 Pass, you decided to invite, 4C was not forcing (!), partner did accept the invite, what is the reason to change your mind? If you want to do more, than 4C the round before was wrong. With kind regardsMarlowe
mtvesuvius
I agree with pass over 2♥, I am not bidding if it goes 4♥ by LHO back to me.I bid 5♣ over the Balancing double however 4N is not unreasonable, especially since partner may have been kind of endplayed into balancing and may be slightly offshape, especially given our shape.Given that I chose to invite this (!), I am passing over 5♣, not going to try to make up for an error earlier by severely overbidding now. dboxley
Question 1: What's your call over 2♥?3C with Pass a not so close second Question 2: Suppose you pass, and it goes around to partner who doubles...what now?4C Question 3: Suppose you bid 4♣ over partner's X, and he bids 5♣...any further action? No, but could have avoided this if I had bid 3C over the 2H bid.
