  1. 1. Pass or Invite?

Recommended Posts

You hold the following hand:

S 4

H AQ1053

D AK103

C 1097

and the bidding:

p-p-1H(you)-1S(LHO)

2H(pd)-p-?(You)

Will you pass or invite?

Please give a brief comment if you Can.

Even opposite a constructive raise, which 2s may not be (unless you have an agreement in place), I would expect to make 3 with 4 to be just under the odds. Consequently I would pass.

Invite, but most likely there are more reasons against inviting than for inviting,

e.g. 1S did not get raised, so p will have spade length, and most likely wastage

in spade.

We have a min opener, a nice min. opener, but min opener.

And depending on your agreements regarding raising, p will most likely only have

3 card support.

So all in all, pass instead of inviting is the wiser course, but I have been down

before.

In my regular pratnership - pass is clear cut, p has garbage.

With kind regards

Marlowe
