mtvesuvius
The general standard treatments of these calls is something like this: 4N - 2 Suited Takeout, not necessarily Minors.5♥ - Slam forcing(?), often 3 suited, this bid is somewhat ambigous5N - Slam forcing, pick a slam. Support for ♠, ♦ and ♣, wanting to involve partner in the decision.
Fluffy
I think the standard is 5♥ is invitational with spades, 5♠ sade slam try with no heart control and 5NT 2 places to play

I would think it would make sense for 5NT to be for the minors and 5♠ by partner would be forcing over 5♥
joramrose
I like to play 1-2-3 Stop in this situation. It may shut out a further spade bid which I don;'t want to hear.It tells my partner not to bid again.

mtvesuvius
What is the meaning of this 1-2-3 stop ?I believe he was referring to an auction like 1♠-2♠-3♠ being simply blocking, and not being invitational. It is not relevant to this situation at all.
WGF_Flame
Let me clear a point, If the opponents were bidding spades, I had much less question, but since they have bid Hearts, we have many doubts.1. should 4NT be possible with the spade suit ? wouldn't this hand rather bid 4S ?2.5H - since its still below 5S, wouldn't it make sense to play it as some invitational spade hand ? bucky
4NT shows minors. 5♥ shows spade slam invitation with heart control (5♠ bid would be invitational without heart control). 5NT should be pick-a-slam, perhaps a hand with 4 spades only.
