I'm running into some problems with potential partners.

1. I'm not a Life Monster, can I play "up" in LM Pairs?

2. I don't have a blue ribbon so I can't play in the blue ribbons pairs, can I play in the mini blue ribbon?

3. I do have a red ribbon, what does that entitle me to?

LM Conditions of Contest

2. The Life Master Pairs will consist of pairs of players, each of whom is an ACBL Life Master and is a

paid up member of ACBL. A player who has equivalent status in a bridge organization other than the

ACBL and who is a member of the ACBL may request, in writing, an exemption from the

requirement to be an ACBL Life Master. Only the Chief Tournament Director or his designee may

grant this request. The same will apply for the LM Women's except that all participants must be

female.

2. I don't have a blue ribbon so I can't play in the blue ribbons pairs, can I play in the mini blue ribbon?

3. I do have a red ribbon, what does that entitle me to?

IV. RIBBON RELATIONSHIPS

The following chart shows how Blue, Silver and Red Ribbon relate:

RED No *Yes **Yes

SILVER No *Yes Yes

* Player must have fewer than 2000 masterpoints as of the last masterpoint cycle run prior to the

start of the NABC. If in doubt call 662-253-3162, for information on your status.

** Player must be at least 55 years of age as of the beginning of the event.

Good luck in Orlando!

Just tell the ACBL you are an international player that has flown in for the tournament. Not only will they grant you entry to the LM's, but they will give you a whole pile of seeding points, depending on how good your accent is.

A great accent is one thing I do have.

As you've probably already heard from someone else... the Red Ribbon Pairs is held every spring, while the Blue Ribbon is held every fall. (And this is likely the one and only time you'll have to worry about - once you go to a few regionals you will have a lifetime supply of ribbon qualifications. They hand them out almost as freely as masterpoints.)

And I concur on the great accent.
