bid_em_up
Mainly dislikes so far, sorry. As mentioned elsewhere, the red topic bar is hideous. It is also too thick (takes up too much vertical room on screen). All individual topics also take up too much vertical room. Likes/Dislikes functionality seems to have an error of some sort. I successfully liked a post early today, now when I try to "like" another one, I receive an error telling me "Action Failed: You have reached your quota of positive votes for the day". One?? A negative vote just receives "Action Failed: New website address: forums.bridgebase.com was not filtered by Websense. bridgebase.com/forums is. Personal info extending down left side of post: For those with long information in their profile, this increases the size of the post. Likes? I'll have to get back to you on that. wyman
Though I have some of the same comments as those above (some kinks for sure), I do overall feel that this platform is an improvement over the old.
gordontd
I expect I'll get used to it, though I'm finding it hard work at the moment and I have a similar reaction to others - I dislike the red blocks, and the hands take forever to load - not always accurately. However I do have one other issue: in Firefox I get the following errormessage whenever I choose a post with a hand diagram in it:
Cascade
However I do have one other issue: in Firefox I get the following errormessage whenever I choose a post with a hand diagram in it: Switch to IE you will get used to those. :) Although I haven't had one from forums. onoway
I don't mind the new look although it does seem a little as though the headers take up a lot of space.. The rust and other colours are ok but I find the grey print somewhat faint and thus harder to read..is there any way to darken it?Also, I hit the back button and got booted out of the forums entirely and told the webpage had expired.First time that's ever happened to me here. 1eyedjack
Possible minor bug. I am using IE8 in Vista. When I search the forums under keywords, I select list by topic and I get a list of hits. Great. Then I click on a link and that opens the topic. Great. But then when I click on the "back" button I want to get back to the list of search results, and all it says is "web page expired" and I have to re-run the search. There is a work-around: Hold down the control key while clicking on the link, so that the new page opens in a new window, and the page displaying the search results is never closed. Still, seems like a bug to me.
1eyedjack
Is there a link to a "help" file somewhere that explains the forum's functionality?I am prompted to ask by the fact that I was interested to know what all the various icons meant when viewing a list of topic headers. But so far no success [EDIT]Found this link (just next to the sign-out option by my login name at top right of screen)http://www.bridgebase.com/forums/index.php?app=core&module=help Have to say it seemed a bit brief and didn't explain the icons
peachy
I dislike the fact that everything takes so much space, the capstone is wide, there is lots of "air" between everything. I liked the more compact form of the old forums because you could normally read even a lengthy pos without scrolling back and forth. Just telling, since this is the place. Today I noticed there is a "vote" option and I was going to vote a post DOWN because I did not see its relevance/didn't like it. When I tried to press the minus-button, I got administrator message that was something like "You have reached your maximum negative votes for today" although I had never voted on any post before, today or any other day. As this is a bridge website, zero tolerance is strictly enforced, so you are not allowed to have a negative attitude toward other people or posts. As a consequences you are only allowed to encourage others, while discouragement is banned.
