bucky Posted October 20, 2010 Report Share Posted October 20, 2010 2 possible choices I can see: 1) 5♥ is also 2 places to play, one of them being spades.2) 5♥ is a slam try in spades WITH HEART CONTROL, while 5♠ would be ASKING for heart control. ninja89 Posted October 21, 2010 Report Share Posted October 21, 2010 Absent agreement, I'd take 5♥ the same way as bucky and others, and assume that all non-slam forcing two-suiters start with 4NT (possibly the slam forces, too). If advancer starts with 4NT, most people would treat 5♠ over doubler's 5m as offering a choice between 5 (or 6)♠ and 6 of doubler's minor. Fluffy Posted October 21, 2010 Report Share Posted October 21, 2010 Are there not three ways to get to 5♠ 1. 5♠ 2. 5♥ 3. 4NT followed by 5♠Sorry, should have specified, playing a jump to 5♠ showing lack of ♥ control is IMO expert standard, so that one is out, the other 2 might be switched and there are arguments for both, I think its easier to remember 4NT as 2 places to play and cuebid showing only 1 place, but maybe that's jsut me.
