hotShot
Searching, I haven't noticed the improvements, still cannot search for 3 letter terms (e.g. XYZ), and I haven't yet discovered how to find all posts for a user in the new version. In the old version, that worked for posters until they had around 9000 or so posts, so I am curious to see if the new version works even for posters with more than 10000 posts. If you click on a players name, in the middle of the screen there is: 1. Recent Status Updates 2. About Me 3. Topics 4. Posts Isn't what you get when you select 'Posts' what you are looking for? 655321
Postcount is a bit different, I guess deleted posts no longer count. Former posters han and cherdano have moved down from their 8888 and 5555 posts, and jlall's count no longer includes his first incarnation. We have lost our record 538 users from October 2008. Updating of number of views doesn't seem to be instant any more, not sure yet how it works, yesterday I looked at one post several times and the view count didn't change, even when I was refreshing the browser. 655321
Isn't what you get when you select 'Posts' what you are looking for? No, I only see about 5 posts when I do that, perhaps I am being stupid and there is an obvious way to see more than 5, but I haven't yet found it. Gerardo
Thanks So how do you do that nested quote? Moved the second quote bbcode header to the top, by hand.
TimG
why do I get the feeling participation has fallen wayyyy off? I thought it would be up since we had an off day?For quite a while there was no auto-redirect, so I expect lots of us were unaware that the new forums were functioning. I also expect that the unfamiliarity of it all is slowing people down.
Cascade
Yes the Tens seem to be missing. And I am not sure how to add x's to the new diagrams. Tens are displayed as 10.No UI support for Xs, but diagrams support them, just change the resulting bbcode to include them. I understand that. Old hands that were displayed as ATx etc have the ten missing in the new diagram. The conversion seemed to overlook the "T" thus resulting in hands with fewer than thirteen cards. Aha, that is a bug, thanks! Fixed now. Thanks So how do you do that nested quote? Moved the second quote bbcode header to the top, by hand. Ah figured it out. You use multiquote and the "add reply" button at the bottom of the page.

the hog
I hate the colours. I agree that red on a forum one reads is a very poor colour to use, as any decent web designer will tell you. I much prefer the old forums.
655321
You are right, have you tried the little wheel right next to the search field top of the page?Yes, but it doesn't seem to help. I have discovered a 'Find My Content' button that brings back a user's post for the last 12 months, perhaps there is an option not to restrict this to 12 months? cherdano
I am sure there are advantages to the new version which I will learn over time. You can ignore posts by specific users now. Or you can vote their posts down
kenberg
Some have complained about red. My messages come up light blue on a gray background. I apologize if this has already been mentioned but they are so hard to read that I cannot make it through the previous messages. I hope there is something I can do else you are about to lose a poster.

barmar
Did the old forum have "Toggle this category"? If it did, I never noticed it. If it's new, I like it -- I can now hide the International Forums category. It would be nice if we could also hide individual forums within a category. ONEferBRID
I used to be able to "Highlight-Copy-Paste" certain hands to my files. Seems I can't do that anymore. Elianna
I don't like the idea that there is a quota on like/dislike votes. When I noticed that the forums was going to be changed, I really hoped it would be like my favorite forums. What I really like about it is a bunch of buttons on the bottom of each post:educational, interesting, funny, agree, disagree, love. So basically every post was like a poll. It really helped get a consensus of what is going on. I think that agree/disagree would be much more relevant than like/dislike (it's less clear what one "likes" about a post, than whether someone agrees or disagrees). Free
I miss the "go to top"-button (the one with the up-arrow) on the right side of each reply. Can we delete our own posts in case we said something really ridiculous and don't have a good alternative answer?
gwnn
How do I quote someone that is not in the thread? If I use tags, I can no longer write something like (quote=External Bridge Expert)3NT is very bad here, any decent bridge player would see that.(/quote), now if I replace the parentheses with square brackets I get: 3NT is very bad here' date=' any decent bridge player would see that.[/quote'] Of course I can still name my source outside the quote but it would be more convenient to do the old way somehow. gwnn
Also, where's my photo? I uploaded it yesterday, after the change to the new software occurred. Sorry, I don't want to complain about everything, just curious..
