NickRW
Not sure what you meant by nested quotes. I broke your message adding headers by hand, to answer each point separately. Nested quotes used to work like this (automatically)Nick said somethingGerardo made a reply Now the bit that gets displayed in purple (the nested quote) has to be set up by hand. This means that the context of what exactly you're replying to is lost unless you want to work hard at it. Nick
wyman
Right, so with MQ: Nick said somethingAND GERARDO WAS OUTRAGEDOMG +1!!!!! But it would indeed be nice if the quote color would change by poster. I suspect that's possible to do manually but a little annoying. paulg
Has the ability to like/dislike posts been activated yet? I get a message saying that I have exceeded my daily quota of positive and negative votes, which suggests that I have no quota.
gwnn
That's only because people dislike you so much :) But yes I have no quota either.
wyman
We wouldn't have quotas if Ronald Reagan were president.

Cascade
Tens are displayed as 10. I understand that. Old hands that were displayed as ATx etc have the ten missing in the new diagram. The conversion seemed to overlook the "T" thus resulting in hands with fewer than thirteen cards.

Guess it makes sense for MultiQuote to behave like Quote if there is only one selected. The old forums url should auto-redirect to the new one. It does (now complete URLs too). I get a message saying that I have exceeded my daily quota of positive and negative votes, which suggests that I have no quota. That might be because we all have 0 reputation so far and can't like anything. I just hope that whenever you like a post it doesn't promote higher, it would mess things up and make everything impossible to understand. gwnn
There have been plenty of answers, but none about the likes/dislikes. I wonder why the secrecy? Or I'm just paranoid as usual :)
mycroft
1) I hope to get used to this, and I hope that the benefits will become apparent to me. 2) the new "trendy" interface is busy. It's also both more intrusive than the old one and more vertical space is wasted with it (and it is fixed-size, so I can't set my font appropriately to minimize it). Vertical space is precious, especially since the promulgation of widescreen monitors. I nth the request for different themes/skins. 3) How do I get to the mobile version of this? Would it be cleaner? Can I use it with a non-mobile browser? 4) I do like the bigger "fast reply" screen. 5) Icons and pictures don't make sense to me - the ones heading the posts in particular. Is there a legend anywhere, or mouseover text that would explain them? 6) On the old boards, I could mute the [expletives deleted] emoticons specifically. Here, it's lumped into "pictures". Is there a way to separate them again, so I don't have to not see any of the useful pictures? Better yet, the [same ed] things blink. Wheee. whereagles
These foruns look kind of strange right now, but I'm sure I'll get used. Colors are nice, though.
wyman
Not crazy about the red, but I don't find it nearly as offensive as others seem to.
whereagles
by the way, I can't see any avatars and I do have that option ON. Is this a bug or a feature? :)

Aberlour10
I cant really understand why the new layout is more modern/trendy/fancy.All I can say it made me tired, and I did not spend today more time here as usually.
dustinst22
Kudos on the new forum. Much cleaner look. I guess some dislike change once they get used to something, even if the change is an improvement :)

655321
I am sure there are advantages to the new version which I will learn over time. At the moment though, I am used to the old color scheme and still prefer it. Unread posts used to jump out at me, the button next to them was clearly different from the button next to read posts. Now it is not as obvious to me, but perhaps it will become more automatic over time. Agree that the pinned posts appearing at the top of the lists is bad. I think the loss of nested quoting is quite bad, I know we can edit replies and put QUOTE tags on, but if that functionality really has been taken away I don't understand why. Not sure how the new multiquote button works, if I reply directly to a post the (unquoted) text from that post appears in the reply as previously, but clicking multiquote (even in several posts at once) doesn't seem to do anything different, in particular it doesn't quote the posts where I selected multiquote. I use firefox, but haven't yet run into gordontd's problem about unresponsive scripts. Searching, I haven't noticed the improvements, still cannot search for 3 letter terms (e.g. XYZ), and I haven't yet discovered how to find all posts for a user in the new version. In the old version, that worked for posters until they had around 9000 or so posts, so I am curious to see if the new version works even for posters with more than 10000 posts.
