P_Marlowe
3D We play 2NT as good- bad, direct bids being weaker. If you dont want to bid 3D, X is clear cut. With kind regardsMarlowe
whereagles
Easy dbl, despite the void. The hand is not all-out offense.

wyman
I vote X also. Did someone seriously suggest not opening this?
mikestar13
I'm a bit surprised at the consensus for double--the ♥void impairs the defense and we have a good second suit to show. Pass is for cowards.
phil_20686
the idea here that you wouldn't dble seems bizzare to me. Even conservative players will over call here on nice 11 with a 6 card suit, and that could easily be 800. RHO will virtually all of the time when they have a 9 card fit because this is a key pressure play position. Very often we will have a good minor suit fit and not be able to get into the auction over 3h. It does not seem that rho can lack the values for a raise to 3h when he has 3 hearts, so just occasionally you will run into someone with a monster over call who might have some play for 2h. But I would expect partner to have a good 4 or 5 hearts here 80% of the time. The chance of opps having better than a 6-2 fit are pretty slim imo. Pass is for cowards. EH? Sure. KQJxx x KQJx xxx is likely to defend much better than AKA void! and would anyone seriously not reopen that with a dble? I do not think that a void often impairs the defense when i have plenty of outside strength a good chance i can play winning spades through declarer. Sure. AKxxx x AJTxx xx might be better for dble, but if you think AKA v is worse than the example i gave then you are giving far to much weight to the "adjustment" and not enough to the strength of the hand.
