rogerclee
I'd just open 1D for now, no need to rush things at equal vul.

aguahombre
1♦, is this a trick question? yes it is a trick question....with only one major suit card, someone might think a large number of diamonds is appropriate.
Free
I'm no longer going to try to decipher a failed attempt to a lame notation method.
hanp
I don't think 5D is unreasonable here.

hanp
It also saves us from the Hog's opinion, worth a couple of additional trees of frustration.
vang
It also saves us from the Hog's opinion, worth a couple of additional trees of frustration. have you considered a simple compression algorithm? for example if we note KQ as M, the hand in cause become - Q MT5 M2. very usefull i think. hanp
No. I made up the notation because the "x" on my keyboard didn't work. It's working now so I don't need it anymore.
P_Marlowe
1D. 5D is certainly a sensible alternative, but nobody stops me from bidding5D later. With kind regardsMarlowe PS: Oh, I dont like this notation.
jdonn
I like 5♦ as I have no hope to decribe after 1♦ anyway. And sorry I don't like this notation at all because it overlaps with showing your exact cards.
helene_t
I don't like this notation at all because it overlaps with showing your exact cards. Depends if you can assume that you have 13 cards. If you can, it is unambiguous thatAKQJAKQJAKQJ2is normal notation, whileAKQJAKQJAKQ2is hanp notation. gordontd
No. I made up the notation because the "x" on my keyboard didn't work. It's working now so I don't need it anymore. Just think - we could have avoided all this simply by clubbing together to buy him a new keyboard.

Though this might sound silly, it's counterintuitive to me (to the point of being ridiculous) to have to count the cards in an example hand to realize what notation is being used. Like having to read an entire sentence before you know what language you just read. Also sometimes you just want to give an example of one suit, not an entire hand.
