chasetb
It's pretty simple. You try to play like Larry Cohen, albeit poorly. You strictly play by the Law of Total Tricks, and use way too many conventions. Then when you inevitably mess up, you have to scream at your partner in that thick New York accent. I don't know Larry Cohen in person, but I very much doubt he likes to use many conventions, and also very much doubt he would yell at his pards. eyhung
Perhaps chasetb didn't mean to conflate the "rude scientific New Yorker" with Larry, who is fairly well-known as a class act both at and away from the table.
CSGibson
It could be that one particular style of 2/1 is popular in New York. I know that's the case in Portland, OR, where Hardy style 2/1 with Minor suit stayman (instead of 4 suit xfers) is almost universal.

I in no way meant that Larry Cohen is rude and screams at his partners. I put that little bit in there because he is originally from NYC, and so would naturally be a person you might want to model your game after. The rest is your average "expert" player.
