How Many Hearts Would You Bid?

Recommended Posts

Partner doubles and you have a singleton . This can mean one of two things:

1. Partner is very strong (18+) or

2. Opponents have a 10-card fit

Even with #1, partner will stretch to not Dbl with a singleton . So I think a direct 4 is a good bid, although I can understand 3.

Partner's second dbl confirms it was #1, which means I should probably pass unless I have a really weird hand. I always ask myself here: If partner had 4 Aces, would he want me to pass? Here, the answer is yes (both 5 and 4 will likely fail opposite 4 Aces). With 1714 or so the answer is no so I should bid.
