support with support or KQJ5?

There's no law against playing fit-jumps in competition. :)

(And didn't we agree that the KQJ5 notation just confused people, when we had a thread about it? I was expecting the standard "1S or 2H in response to 1H, with a weak hand and a good 4-card spade suit" question...)

Yeah, but when fit-jumping you need a 4th trump. If partner has a few small s and opps start leading this suit from the top, you lose control completely with only 3 trumps.

KQJ983 for me

9xx x KQJ98xxx x

opps are vul, partner is dealer

1-(2)-??

IMO 5 = 10, 2 = 9, 3/4 (fit jumps) = 4, _P = 3, 2 = 2, _X = 1

Not a success when partner turns up with AKxxx Jxx - AQxxx

But such are the vicissitudes of life :D

Fit jumps can help partner in a competitive auction but normally show better support and on this hand you want to play in not . Double is misdescriptive and masochistic: how do you rate 2X when partner holds AKxxx Qx xx AKxx?
