kayin801
Would have bid 3♦ with the east hand, it's too good for 3♠ on the auction.
aguahombre
I would also have bid 3♦ as responder, but only because 3S shows really a crap hand. It is close, though.
dake50
I try 3C showing hearts then 4S. It's not three small spades that I like, but HAK and C-single.
jillybean
I don't think East is quite good enough for 3♦, no blame.
aguahombre
you have to choose, and agree with CHO, whether the competitive bids can be heavy or whether the invites can be light. We choose to stretch the invites, but that doesn't make it the optimal strategy --just our choice. P.S., showing a GF in hearts, then bidding 4S (via 3C) is just plain silly. effervesce
3♦, which given the competition has a wider range. Opener can re-invite with 3♥.
pooltuna
East showed a constructive raise when in fact he had a limit raise (and consequently should just bid game). And I don't care if it is not comfortable. :)

jdonn
East is most definitely good enough to cuebid when it doesn't even force him any higher.
mikeh
I think East has a very close call.....and this kind of problem is best dealt with in a forum context by posting the East hand and the auction and seeking opinions. Since we can all see that we should be in game, we get silly posts such as showing hearts and then forcing to 4♠....I would be willing to bet that we would see something else posted if opener were KJxxx Jxx xx AKx. In my partnerships, we operate by the general principle of strong invites and light acceptances. This is demonstrably superior to the opposite in uncontested auctions....you miss the same number of games as light invites, heavy acceptances, while avoiding a lot of '3 down 1' contracts when the suits sit foully...making 2 overtricks in 2♠ while the others make 1 overtrick in 3♠ doesn't seem to cost very much. An exception is when the opps apply pressure, as they did here.....as east, we will raise to 3♠ on many hands that would have raised only to 2♠ absent competition. This means that we should be a little more aggressive in making limit raises, especially since opener has no game tries available over a wide-range 3♠. Therefore I think that East is (just) worth a limit raise, which for many of us, and me, is a 3♦ cue.

I agree now, but since partner blamed me for not bidding 4♠ I was trying to see how much blame I could get, he blamed me for everything this season, just wondered if these one was my fault too.
