Fluffy
mps, nobody vul, south dealer ♠AQ♥QJ9x♦xxxx♣10xx pass-(pass)- 1♣ -(1♠) X -( 2♠ )-pass-(pass)??
dkharty
Never mind, misread the auction

hanp
Clear double imo. It's matchpoints, nobody vulnerable, the opponents have a spade fit and we have roughly half the deck.
MFA
Double, surely.
jonottawa
I too would double Shirley, but against anyone else I will bid 3♣. If opps only have a 7 card fit (considerably less likely missing the AQ imo,) they got me, otherwise we should be okay. If opps were vul, double is more tempting. I'm not a fan of risking -470 to chase +100.
hanp
Do you really think partner will pass if we double? And if so, do you really think they're making?
Free
Dbl again, don't let them play 2♠ if we have a clear takeout Dbl!
Fluffy
double worked out very poorly today ♠Kxx♥108x♦AJx♣A10xx -100 in 3♣ gathered 3 MPs from
gwnn
I don't know if I'm biased but I'd pass the x with opener's 4333 with a lot of defensive tricks
Fluffy
passing didn't even cross my mind, opps might be in a 9 card fit and ♠K with LHO being the overcaller doesn't look so defensive. 4333 is not great defending shape either. But well, it works better this time so I probably should had at least though about it
whereagles
I thought I had replied to this. I pass because the hand is very defensive and if pard has a min 12-13 bal, you're probably going down at the 3 level. 2♠ may or may not make, if you double is top-or-bottom. nige1
MPs, nobody vul, south dealer ♠ AQ ♥ QJ9x ♦ xxxx ♣10xx_P (_P) 1♣ (1♠)_X (2♠) _P (_P)?? IMO X (Competitive not penalty) = 10, 2N = 8, _P = 7, 3♣ = 5.3 MPS/130! That's a great board for me
jonottawa
passing didn't even cross my mind Funny, bidding wouldn't even cross my mind. So how does 2♠ go down? Perhaps having both of the ♣T on defense helps us out.
gwnn
I know I'm just repeating myself here but I hate pulling takeout doubles when I see no real chance of a fit. I just pass and hope they go down. Of course this applies less at the 1 or 2 levels and more at 3+ levels, but this is already the 2.5 level, we are going to have to play something on the 3 level. hanp
I would never pass that takeout double.
