raist
you play 2/1, with gazzilli (so you don't need to keep the hand 1 alive)HAND 1♠Tx ♥xxx ♦KT9xx ♣Axxpartner opens 1S, bidding goes: 1S-1N-2H HAND 2♠xx ♥AKJ ♦KJx ♣Qxxxx you open 1C, bidding goes: 1C-1S-1N-2H how strongly do you feel about giving prefence on either hand? mich-b
I think hand 1 is more suitable for "preferencing" back to 2♠, because :1. 6-4 is very much possible in hand 1 , while in hand 2 , with 6-4 responder (with no game ambitions) might have just rebid 2♠ with 6-4.2. When my side values are Aces and Kings , partner is more likely to be forced , than if my side values are quacks. If we might get forced , I would prefer to have a 5 card trump suit. Completely agree with this, not to mention we could just easily have game on hand 1. For example KQ9xxx KQJx Ax x is a very reasonable game, or Axxxx AKQxx xx x (though not with the majors reversed, against that the diamonds could be Qx though). I would definitely preference on the first. But on the second pass seems pretty easy to me.
P_Marlowe
Hi, both, 5-2 fits play usually better than 4-3 fits. With kind regardsMarlowe

hanp
I strongly pass both times. ok this is the third time that I swear the opening post was different when I read it. I know the post hasn't been changed, it's a combination of my tired eyes and lack of sleep. I thought the first hand had a singleton spade, I would correct to 2S with this. jdonn
I guess this is why it's better to alert a convention based on what it shows than assuming the name explains it all. So instead of making me work out wonderful gazzili could you just mention exactly what partner's auctions show?

So instead of making me work out wonderful gazzili could you just mention exactly what partner's auctions show? sorry you are right, i assumed gazzilli was common enough knowledge. on hand 1, partner's 2H rebid denies (1) a hand that is worth a good 16+ playing strength and (2) a 5S-5H hand worth 14-16.
