Gerben42
6 loser hand at unfavorable in 3rd seat, hmm... Choices are Pass and 2♥, since I'm in 3rd seat I'll go for opening.
Flameous
1S for me, psyching a pre empt has never seemed so good idea.
JoAnneM
3h because if they have spades 2h isn't really that much pressure.

Cascade
ooops 3H, 2H, 1H :) Are you suggesting a psyche is out of the question?
fromageGB
1S for me, psyching a pre empt has never seemed so good idea. in what way is 3♥ a psyche?
whereagles
I'd try 2♥, though not happy about it.

Cascade
Its probably the wrong vulnerability. I once did psyche a 3♥ opening. The bidding proceeded 3♥ ... lots of questions including "how many hearts does that show" eventually my LHO doubled Partner passed and RHO bid 3♠ which pleased me as my hand looked much more like a 3♠ bid than a 3♥ bid I passed and LHO repeated his barrage of questions and then bid 4♥!!!!!! All passed :) - it wasn't an important tournament and i did not even bother to call the director.
Cascade
Anyway 1♥ for me - why pretend to be weak when you can pretend to be strong :)
Hanoi5
2♥ and I was excited when I thought we were being offered the chance to psych, in which case I would have chosen 2♠.
jdonn
Obviously if you were going to psych a spade bid you would want it to be 2 instead of 3, as it will steal spades from the opponents just as easily but with a little less risk of how high partner might raise you, plus if you simply get stuck playing it there you will be a level lower. But on this I would choose 1♥, it's a bit light for me but way too much defense outside to preempt and passing doesn't feel right.
hanp
2H, not going to do anything brilliant red against white. 2H seems normal to me actually, surprised to see so many other votes.
MarkDean
I would pass - too much outside for a preempt for me. I do not expect this to be a popular choice.
aguahombre
2H, not going to do anything brilliant red against white. 2H seems normal to me actually, surprised to see so many other votes.I find nothing normal about showing the wrong number of hearts, the wrong quality of hearts, and the wrong number of outside honors. 1H feels about right, since it doesn't say anything other than I wanted to open 1H.. nigel_k
Agree with 2♥. It has more defence than partner will expect but offbeat preempts in third seat often work. 3♥ is too much. 1♥ is ok but I prefer to preempt and make them guess. There should be an analogous rule to Hamman's law that if one of your options is a preempt, then choose that one.
aguahombre
Whose law says, "Try to restrict the number of opponents to two."?
the hog
Psyching with this much defence is silly. I would bid 2H in third seat. Fwiw, if this were in first seat, I would certainly pass.
rduran1216
I think 3H is the hands down winner. Partner is a past hand, and we wont miss game if he's got two high hearts and an outside Ace Also we may force opponents into a bad game in spades or NT
andy_h
I prefer 1H

All passed  - it wasn't an important tournament and i did not even bother to call the director. So this pair go merrily on their way, passing cue bids when there's been enough UI. If this is what you put up with in tournaments you must be easy pickings in a club game :o I bid 1♥ here, nice to see I have some good company. Free
2♥ for me. I can live with 1♥, but not with 3♥ at this vulnerability.
