Cyberyeti
How good is 6♣ ? What are the chances of a 3-2 club break given a known 6-3 heart break ? Also if W has a singleton honour, what are the chances of arranging the trump coup ? I suspect pretty good as I think you can cover 3334 and 2344 but not 4324. I suspect we'd play in 4N once the balanced hand denies 3 clubs or 4 diamonds.
gnasher
I sometimes play a transfer to their suit as short hearts. Playing that, it might go: 2NT 3♦3♠ 3NT4♦ 5♣6♣? The 6-3 heart break doesn't affect the odds of a 3-2 break very much. According to Pavlicek's calculator, it's still 66%.
pirate22
Rose Petal glasses--------- 6cl may not be a make--3n/t is very real 2h--x--p--3cp --3n/t--p--now either pass/6cl/6nt. so let us know the club posn.
pooltuna
this feels like a WTP 2NT
Fluffy
2NT-3♠3NT-pass north is close to bid 4♣ but the support is too bad IMO. south is close to reopen but the clubs are too weak adn there seems to be more wastage in hearts than there actually is. fromageGB
On a brave day ...2NT 3♣3♥ 4♣4♦ 4♠4NT 5♣6♣ For one of my partnerships it goes 2NT Lebensohl (in a recent thread most people seemed to have never come across this) 3♣ obligatory, 3H forcing, showing 4 spades and heart stops, 17+, 4♣ (long, slammish, good enough hand to play in 4NT), 4♦ (ace ask in clubs), 4♠ (2 aces of 5), 4NT (queen ask), 5♣ (no queen), 6♣ (partner therefore highly likely to have K♦ to be slam seeking). On a timid day one of us might chicken out, either 3NT in place of 4♣, or 4NT in place of 4♦.
nigel_k
2NT-3♠ (MSS)3NT-4♣ (6+ clubs and at least mild slam try) At which point I think North has enough to keep bidding until 6♣ is reached. I agree with Gerben's start but I think South has done enough once he bids 4♣. I wouldn't regard a 4♥ cue bid by North as particularly encouraging - you should usually cue bid since partner is unlimited and bidding 4NT takes up an entire level. I would only bid 4NT with an unsuitable minimum. If it was a bidding challenge of course North would know 6♦ must be right and would just bid 4♦ over 3♠. MFA
Perhaps: 2NT - 3♦ (short hearts)3♠ - 3NT 4♥ - 6♣
mikeh
I doubt I'd reach it.....2N is clear.....I don't even understand the part about it being an underbid....it shows 16-18 for most, I think (positional 15 counts can be upgraded) and it is not an underbid to be at the top of the range. As for advancing: I don't have a lot of gadgets available to me in my partnerships, so I would transfer to clubs, via 3♠. North has a very good hand, but with 2 heart stops and only Ax in clubs, there will be a temptation to bid 3N, thus ending the exploration.....S has no reason to pull 3N even if he now suspects that diamonds may be a playable fit....catch KQxx KQ10x Qxx Ax and 3N looks like the right spot.....5minor needs some luck, altho maybe on this layout we can stop in 4N. If North upgrades for the quality of the controls and accepts the transfer, then S will probably drive to slam...the precise mechanism being irrelevant...mine might be: 3♠ 4♣ 4♦ 4H 4N (anything extra?) 6♣ (staying consistent and not worrying about the club length) But I suspect that I'd miss the slam. bucky
Just curious, what structure do you guys play after (2♥) 2NT (P) ? If 3♠ shows clubs, how do you show diamonds?
