Fluffy
I am hating this hand, will try itwhen I don't have headache.
rogerclee
It looks intuitive to win in hand and cash 1 high trump. If we cash another trump it's really bad if they are 1-4, which is by far the most likely layout, so I would just try to cash 3 rounds of hearts pitching a diamond and then play a club up regardless of the heart split if I can. billw55
I would open 1♥ as north, with a partner that digs that kind of thing.
nige1
♠Txx ♥AQTxx ♦Axx ♣xx♠AK976 ♥Kx ♦Qx ♣Kxxxfavorable, mpsp (p) 1♠ (3♦)3♠ (all pass)lead: ♦J(hidden)if you play low on T1, RHO also plays low, and if you cash a high trump, both follow small My guess: Duck the opening lead to your ♦Q and continue with a ♦ to ♦A. If ♦A wins than lead a ♣ to ♣K. If RHO ruffs ♦ A then win ♠ exit, cross to ♥Q and lead a ♣. Matchpoint experts tell us that you should consider only declarers in 3♠ or less (because if other declarers are in 4♠ they will beat you when the cards are favourable and lose to you, otherwise). I don't know how to apply that wisdom to the play, here.
CSGibson
Edit: Meant to say that I run the lead to the Q and then cash a single high spade as the first part. I feel it will be necessary to retain diamond control to avoid effective forces. I have to assume that the club ace is offsides and trump are 4-1, since I think most people will be in game. I'm going to take 3 rounds of hearts, pitching a diamond, and then duck a club (covering the spot if possible, not covering if not possible). rogerclee
Is this in the third day of the LMs or something? I think a lot of people in bad fields (which is basically all club/sectional/regional pair games) will try to draw 2 rounds of trumps and then just take fewer tricks. Bbradley62
How low is RHO's ♦ on trick 1, what kind of carding are they playing, and do you know what my spots are? These answers might help decide whether to play for 7-1 or 6-2 diamonds.

LHO made a jump overcall r/w opposite a passed partner, what diamond spots or carding agreements would cause you to assume this was a 6 card suit?
