Double vs 3D

(P)-P-(1)-X

(2NT)-X-(3)-??

1 showed at least four, 2NT was a good raise. What hands would you expect partner to have doubled with (bearing in mind he could have bid 3), and, if it isn't obvious from your answer, what do our calls show now?

Over 2NT, I think that 3 shows both majors; double covers the hands with clubs and one four-card major.

Over 3, there's some overlap between double and 3M - after 3M, responder will convert if he doesn't have four; after double, responder will usually bid his major. The main difference is that dbl-3-3 sounds forcing (because opener didn't just bid 3 over 3).
