MickyB
(P)-P-(1♦)-X(2NT)-X-(3♦)-?? 1♦ showed at least four, 2NT was a good raise. What hands would you expect partner to have doubled with (bearing in mind he could have bid 3♦), and, if it isn't obvious from your answer, what do our calls show now? Fluffy
partner has a decent 3 suiter, 4405 typically but some 4414 are possible. EDIT: Nonsense I though we had passed the round before
hanp
Partner's double suggests acting, but he may not be willing to act on his own beyond 3D. Pass now would be NF, double would be competitive, likely with 4-4 in the majors.
JLOGIC
Partner's double shows values, they opened in 3rd seat and showed a limit raise it's not like they have to have very much values at all.
gnasher
Over 2NT, I think that 3♦ shows both majors; double covers the hands with clubs and one four-card major. Over 3♦, there's some overlap between double and 3M - after 3M, responder will convert if he doesn't have four; after double, responder will usually bid his major. The main difference is that dbl-3♥-3♠ sounds forcing (because opener didn't just bid 3♠ over 3♦).
