MFA
Jeez I thought I was aggressive here.Wtf? Nobody west of the pond bids anything. Instead everybody goes around marveling at meckwell bidding european style, lol (general remark unrelated to this problem).;)

Teammates reached it after Gunnar Hallberg, not exactly known for his aggressiveness, overcalled at the other table.[/hv] lol i think we've found the key difference in the bidding and it has nothing to do with the 2D overcall
MickyB
Well - yes. I wasn't claiming that my failure to overcall fixed oppo or anything ;)
655321
Yes I'd bid 2D. Although I'm a bit ashamed of my suit and strength, I don't think it is really close. With 6-4 distribution enough good things can come of acting immediately. I think I would pass if we were vulnerable. This is how I feel about the hand too. the hog
2D and I am old, but not decrepit like the passers.
dake50
Didn't anyone think 1S overcall? I almost considered a 2S jump overcall.
MarkDean
I must be really old - not close to overcalling for me.

Instead everybody goes around marveling at meckwell bidding european style, lol (general remark unrelated to this problem).:) Heh, Meckwell don't really have a european style anyways, they are pretty sound in their preempting and they don't double very much at all, aren't aggressive in preemptive raises etc, they do overcall light and bid game light but that's normal. I would be willing to bet meckwell would not overcall this hand type. You're right, the top players in USA compared to many european countries are much different stylistically. That said I think the Italian style in stuff like this is very similar to USA more than other aggro eruopean countries.
