Apologies, I initially put that the oppo passed out 4H, this was not the case. 2D was a "bad" multi, 4H was pass-or-correct. Your defence to a multi is X as 13-15 balanced or strong, bids are natural.[/hv] Edited September 13, 2010 by MickyB
JLOGIC
Both hands have automatic passes imo. Well done opps I guess, if they do random stuff like this they will get you sometimes.
Fluffy
yeah all the 3 passes are auto. Wether West told you all the info he had with his experience with this partner about the 4♥ call belongs to another forum.
Codo
WD Opps Are you sure that your double is better in the long run as a take out double against spades?
gnasher
This demonstrates a weakness of the standard English defence to a Multi. If North could show a takeout double of spades on the first round, that would make it rather easy.
Simplicity
I seem to recall West did infact correct to spades? Not that i think it changes much...
MickyB
I've corrected the original post, apologies, the comments make more sense to me now :(
P_Marlowe
Hi, now the auction makes sense. Given that we have only 3 spades, I was assuming that the passing out of 4Hwas the random bid, although why one would pass with a weak two in spadeswas not clear. As it is now, I still think, that North should pass, but he may make a borderlineT/O X, if North passes, than South will pass as well. With kind regardsMarlowe
gnasher
In the equivalent weak-two sequence at our table our opponents didn't seem to have any difficulty: 2♠ pass 4♠ 5♦ pass 6♦
Fluffy
Codo and I would end up in 7♦, so there is no worries for this.
MickyB
Teammates bid 2D-P-4D, which allowed East in with a double. One pair told me they didn't get in after the auction started 2D-P-4C "Transfer to your major", I would have thought both hands could have acted there! lmilne
Damn, the previous thread where someone psyched a pass or bid 4H with 4-1 in the majors was much more hilarious!
