Creating hands for teaching purposes

Hi,

I am hoping someone can point me in the right direction here. I am currently teaching the BIL Bridge 101 course. I am going to lecture on responses to partners opening to one of a major. I am in the web client trying to create hands.

I have opened an invisible teaching table, figured out how to use the deal source to put restrictions on the hands (e.g. make N have a one heart opener). I've clicked on redeal until I've found a hand that I like and want to save.

Do I now have to play the hand in order to save it? I do know how to export deal to a folder and find it later. What am I missing?

Suggestions are welcome or point out where this has already been explained.

Thanks in advance,

Sue

You are on the right track, but you need to do this from the *Hand Editor*, and not directly at the teaching table.

On the BBO home page click on Hands and Results > Hand Editor. On the left there is a Deal Source button that works just like the one you tried out at the teaching table. Click on it, set your constraints, then click Redeal until you have a hand you like. At the bottom of the table click on Export deal > Save deal as...

You also have an Edit button, just in case you have an almost perfect hand that needs a bit of adjustment to be usable.

Here is a follow up question. In what order are the hands saved to a folder? It does not seem to be the order in which I add them to the folder nor does it seem to be alphabetical by what I have titled them. It is easiest to load them to the table in the order in which they are in the folder (by just selecting that folder as the deal source) but I can't get them in the folder in the order I want them.

Hope this question makes sense.

Any help is appreciated.

Sue

Actually they should be loaded to the table exactly as you saved them in your folder.

If you mean the numbers in the top left corner do not follow in order as 1 2 3 etc, that's because the board number follows the declarer/vulnerability rotation. Check the Help button - Teaching on BBO section. The order of deals - dealer - vulnerability is given and explained fully.

No sorry, I mean I make a hand (for a particular reason) and then I want the next one to follow, and I put it in my folder labeled ( 1 H opener, responder says whatever ) but the order in which I make, maybe ten hands (thank you I love the click in click out to change it) makes no sense. So the question remains. If you save hands to a folder what criteria is the order in which they are saved?

Thanks,

Sue
