gwnn
I will have about 18 hours between the 30th of September and 1st of October between two flights in London. Any forum poster willing to play a session of bridge with me? Also could anyone tell me if I have to book a train or coach now or can I just buy one of those 24h train passes there? I arrive at Gatwick (about 10 or 11AM) and fly from Heathrow (at 6 AM).
gordontd
If you come to the Young Chelsea Bridge Club - www.ycbc.co.uk - before the game starts at 7.30pm I'll find you a partner for our Championship Pairs game - IMPs scoring, all bidding systems allowed. The train from Gatwick to Victoria needs its own ticket, but once at Victoria you can buy a travelcard for travel on the underground or on buses. If you buy a six-zone (I think) it'll take you to Heathrow until the last tube train of the night, but I don't think it'll still be valid for night buses. gnasher
I would have been delighted, but I'm going to be out of town. You can buy rail tickets from Gatwick on the day, but you can buy cheaper tickets in advance from http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/ When you buy them, you can specify that you want to pick them up from the station at Gatwick. You'll need the card that you used to pay for them. Note that:- The "Advance" fares require you to travel on a particular train.- The Gatwick Express is rather more expensive than the other train operators.- The ticket you buy has to match the train provider. Regarding coaches, you can certainly buy National Express tickets on the day. I expect it's the same with EasyBus. The game at the YC will definitely be the strongest available. As Gordon says, it's convenient for Heathrow too - you could play in the duplicate, get trolleyed in the bar at the YC, take the last tube to Heathrow at around 12.30am, and sleep it off on a bench at Heathrow. When do you need to know?

Rossoneri
Enjoy London! YC's a nice club to play at and it's free for students as well ;)
Walddk
YC's a nice club to play at ... Indeed it is, nice people, nice bar. Gordon has a special place in my heart. He found my Fulham (FFC) hat! I wish I had seen your "ad" before, then we could have had a game. I live close to the YC, 2-3 miles I believe. Must remember to measure next time I walk.
