I've posted about this before. In fact, I wrote about it yesterday in a r.g.b discussion of GIB.

 

The problem is that GIB just does double dummy analysis, from the point of the lead. It doesn't back up and try to figure out what kinds of hands would have made that lead.

 

Someone in the r.g.b thread suggested that GIB should have a special case: assume that opening lead in a suit is not away from the Acs unless that's the only holding that allows making.

Has this been fixed? On two occasions yesterday I noticed GIB duck with Kxx(x) in dummy facing a singleton in hand on the opening lead.

It is right to duck with Kxx or Kxxx in dummy. The question was about which card GIB plays from dummy on the Opening Lead from this combination: KJx, KJxx.

You're right, of course. I'd just never seen GIB duck with King empty before today. I thought it had learned something.
