jillybean
I know there have been threads regarding 2 way game tries, can anyone providea link please?
spotlight7
Hi: Try a Romex system source. They used two way game tries back in the day. It is a way to use both short suit and long suit game invites. The cheapest step is a relay so that you can show a long suit game try. 1S-2S-2NT*-3C-bid your long red suit naturally here and a 3S rebid shows clubs :) Direct bids show a short suit game try. 1S-2S-3 non spades shows shortness. blackshoe
Actually Romex these days uses three way game tries. The short suit game try in clubs does double duty - it's either that, or a "power game try" — some 5332, 6322, or 5422 (in which case the 4 card suit is too good for a long suit try) with about 16-17 HCP. After this, responder can sign off in 3 or 4 if he doesn't care which it is, or bid the first step to accept the short suit try, or the second to accept the power try. See page 34 of Bid to Win, Play for Pleasure. Ron Klinger published a similar structure (without the power try) in The Modern Losing Trick Count, but reversing the meanings so that the direct bids are long suit tries, and the short suit tries go through the relay. Ant590
A google search on Kokish game tries turns up quite a lot for 2-way / 3 way game tries. I play a modified version with James, where 2♠/hearts and 2NT/spades is any long suit try, and the rest are shortage-showing transfers (with a Keri-like continuation allowing us to "complete the transfer" with interest giving partner room to make a slam try if neeeded). bluecalm
There is also a way to find out about shortness in both hands as well as make help suit game try. 1♠ - 2♠???? 2NT = I don't have shortness but maybe you have ?3♣/3♦/3♥ = shortness in bid suit ! after: 1♠ - 2♠2NT - ??? 3♣ = I don't have shortness3♦/3♥/3♠ = I have shortness in ♦/♥/♣ 1♠ - 2♠2NT - 3♣???? 3♦/3♥/3♠ = I have help suit game try in: ♦/♥/♣ I've never play this way as I am not big fan of fancy stuff but it seems like the best way to combine various game tries if you want to do that. I like this too. The first step ask for shortage also means you are revealing information about dummy, not declarer, which is good.

gwnn
Hi jillybean I know I've been disappointing a number of these search requests, but maybe this time this could help you? it's fred's game try structure. warning it's very advanced :) http://forums.bridgebase.com/index.php?sho...ndpost&p=193447

Enjoyed reading this old thread. FTR, Sathya and I play 1-2-3 stop only in hearts. Might be the MP beast in us :) Some very compelling arguments from F, J and J a few years ago and not sure that even playing in hearts is best anymore. More on the record - I can't stand 2-way game tries. I used to like them, and there are probably some old posts where I said I played them, because I used to. jillybean
Thanks for info, what I am lookng at adding, and seems to be part of the 'Nagy Game Try' is;1M:2M 2M+1 asks partner in which suit he would accept a help suit game try.Any other bid by 1M bidder is a short suit game try. Zelandakh
You can also reverse the meanings Jilly, keeping your immediate game tries as help-suit and going via 2M+1 for short suit. I think this approach is slightly easier to remember/adapt to if you've played 'standard' for a while. Remember also, as per Fred's post in the linked thread, that you can easily psyche a game try in an attempt to get/inhibit a lead if you know already where you want to end up. I thought this is called Kokish Game Try in my area. Maybe I am wrong. I frequently heard the discussion in new partnership like "do you play Kokish game try?" and I would like to know what that is.
