heyrocky
Does it bother anyone else that in the uncontested sequence: 1♠ - 2♣ - 2♦ - 2♥ 2♥ is described by GIB as 5+♣, 4+♥, 13+, instead of being 4SF? Are there any other 4SF auctions that are not defined as such by GIB? I've seen this one twice recently, but cannot recall seeing any others. If I must, I can post the hand (maybe even hands; I have seen this more than once), but my bidding after this sequence gets muddled. Since I'm not sure what I really should be doing after the misinterpreted 2H (yes, I do read the explanation before bidding, but I'm stubborn and bid it anyway), my further sequences would deserve much ridicule, which I can live without for now. Bbradley62
I like that hand description. Since 2♣ was already game forcing, there should be no need for 2♥ to be artificial to create a game force.
calm01
I agree - in 2/1 fame force you normally bid you distribution when in a forcing to game situation if a fit has not been agreed. So i would take it as clubs and hearts and since neither NT or fit is shown by responder it must be must be at least 5-4. There are lots of suspect descriptions - but I do not think this is one of them. Ari recently indicated that correcting descriptions and associated coding will improve GIB bidding - so it is worth continuing to report suspect descriptions
Stephen Tu
I like that hand description. Since 2♣ was already game forcing, there should be no need for 2♥ to be artificial to create a game force. You don't need 4sf to create a game force, however it might be necessary to play 2♥ as possibly artificial. It basically depends on whether you allow 2♠ preference to be on doubleton or not, and whether you allow 2nt with no stopper in the 4th suit. If you want your 2♠ to promise 3 cd support, your 2nt to promise a heart stopper, 3♣ to promise 6 clubs, and 3♦ to promise 4♦, then something has to give and 2♥ can no longer promise 4 hearts. (2335 no heart stopper) If opener is going to always bid 4 cd hearts ahead of 4 cd diamonds as he should, then there's no heart fit unless responder is 5-6, so it's not like there's a ton of utility in showing hearts naturally anyway.
