CSGibson
partner psyches first seat at equal vul 1♠ on a 4-3-3-3 yarb, and does it in a swiss game where we are clearly better than the opponents. It worked (auction went a perfect (X)-XX-(2♣), P-bit(P), 2♠-bit(P)-P-bit(P) (where bit = break in tempo), but it also put me on tilt almost immediately. jkdood
Stupidest psyche-related comment? Dear sweet Beverly Bluth (since departed) playing her weekly matchpoint club game with the quiet soft-spoken highly-focused psychiatrist, Dr. Al Green (also departed.) They play K-S (12-14) and at none vul Beverly picks up xxx xxx xxx Jxxx. In first seat the good Doctor opens 1NT (12-14), and after RHO passes, the innocent looking Bev tries 3NT... not the newest tactical call of all times, but new for her. All pass, opening lead is made, and dummy is tabled. The good Doctor peruses dummy a few times then sincerely says, in his best couch-consulting soft and serious but obviously disappointed voice: "Aw, cmon Beverly, you cannot be serious?!" PS, yeh, was a TOP!
